Car and bicycle carrier

Mounting bicycles on the Twinny Load (Plus) Junior:
It is not the intention that the bracket (axle) rests on the plastic crank holder. This applies to children’s bicycles as well as to Ladies or Gents bicycles. When you extend the wheel channels of the Twinny Load, the bike rises slightly and thus the bracket comes free from the plastic crank holder. Now the plastic crank holder no longer functions as a third support, but the bike is supported by the wheel channels. The plastic crank holder serves to position the bicycle upright on the carrier by moving the wing nut on the back of the crank holder up or down with respect to the bent crank clamp.

Spare key for crank clamp:
Spare keys for the crank clamp can be supplied as long as we have the missing key number in stock. If you give the relevant key number to your supplier, it can be ordered under article number 62.99.62968

Do electrically assisted bicycles fit on the standard Twinny Load C/CK models?
The Twinny Load Traditional models have not been tested for the transport of electric bicycles.
However, these models have been tested for maximum loading. The maximum weight for these carriers is 63 kg.
If you check the maximum ball load for the towing hook on your car then you can see if it meets the maximum ball load. The ball load is usually stated on the type plate beside the electric socket.
There is a table on our website for electric bicycles that states which brands and types of electric bicycles fit on the Twinny Load C/CK models.

Ski carrier:
The ski carrier was dropped from the range in 2009.

Supply of TL parts:
We do not supply Twinny Load products directly to consumers.
All Twinny Load parts and accessories can be obtained from the various sales points.

Keys for the Ergo CK coupling:
These keys for the Twinny Load Ergo CK are not available separately; these can only be ordered as a complete Ergo Lock from the various sales points under article number 62.99.62411

Does the guarantee cover rust formation?
If black patches appear on the galvanizing of a Twinny Load, this usually means that this Twinny Load has come into contact with (de-icing) salt.
If a carrier is covered with salt and is not effectively cleaned to remove soluble salts then black patches will form on the galvanizing. This is not covered by the guarantee.
If you consider that you are eligible for a guarantee and service assessment, if these are real patches of red rust, then you must return to your supplier with your Twinny Load® purchase receipt. They will return the carrier to us via their wholesaler for a guarantee and service assessment.

Do the new lockable crank clamps also fit on my old Twinny Load Plus or Prestige models?
The new lockable crank clamps can also be used on these Twinny Load Plus or Prestige models. To make the crank system fully lockable you also need the new plastic crank holder (article number 62.99.62010), otherwise the lockable crank clamp will not function properly. These plastic crank holders are manufactured with serrations at the back so that the wing nut at the back of the plastic crank holder cannot be moved when the crank clamp is locked.

From round to square guide bushes:
Some time ago we changed the guide bushes to square tubes. We made this change because the Twinny Load round pins clamped more securely in these square tubes.
Therefore you can use these square guide bushes with your old Twinny Load fitted with the standard round pins without problems.

What is towing hook load?
Towing hook load is the weight that a towing hook can carry. This maximum permissible load is usually stated on the type plate next to the electric socket.

Will my insurance cover the damage to my bicycle carrier if I am involved in a rear-end collision?
Please contact your insurance company for the answer to this question.

What should I do if I have a towing hook with a welded eye for the cable break line fixing?
The standard guide set cannot be used on this type of towing bar. You need a special accessory to enable you to continue using your current Twinny Load®. This accessory is the Brinkmatic adapter. This Brinkmatic Adapter is also usable for the removable towing hooks.

Which Twinny Load can I best use with a retractable towing hook?
If you have a retractable towing hook fitted to your car you can only use the Twinny Load® models that are mounted directly to the towing hook ball. These include the Twinny Load® Swing and Twinny Load® Ergo models.

I have purchased a car that has a detachable towing hook. Which accessory do I need?

Does a Twinny Load have theft protection?
Yes. All 2007 models are supplied with locks on the towing hook attachment and on the bike fastening, and these protect your bicycle(s) against theft.

Can a hybrid car also be fitted with a bicycle carrier?
The use of a standard bicycle carrier for mounting to the towing hook is not possible. To assist the owners of this type of car the towing hook specialist Bosal and bicycle carrier manufacturer Twinny Load have jointly developed a unique bicycle carrier system: the Bosal Twinny Load. This system makes it easy for hybrid cars and the smaller car models to carry bicycles.
How does the Bosal Twinny Load bicycle carrier system work? The system consists of three elements: a towing hook mounting support, a Twinny Load Swing CK bicycle carrier with a special coupling and a 7-pole cable set. The mounting support is fitted to the car as with a normal towing hook. The design of the mounting support is comparable to that of a removable towing hook. Reliable, stylish and very user-friendly. Please contact Bosal for more information.

Bicycle and bicycle carrier

We have purchased new bicycles. Unfortunately these do not fit on our Twinny Load Basis. Do you have a solution?
If there is no space between the crankshaft housing and the crank on your bicycles, so that this does not drop into the crank stand slot, we cannot offer you a suitable solution. If this space does exist, but the sliding pieces don’t fit well in the crank stand because the bicycles have curved cranks, then you can use the raised clamp accessory

Do bicycles with an oversized frame fit on the Twinny Load models with bike frame fixings?
We do not yet have a modification to fit bicycles with an oversized frame on the Twinny Load® models with a frame clamp. These can only be fitted on the Twinny Load® models that have crank clamps.

How can I fit our bicycles when the handlebars and the saddles get in each other’s way?
You can set up the bicycles diagonally. You do this by pulling the wheel channel for the rear wheel of the first bike to be mounted further out and pushing in the front wheel channel further in. You do the opposite with the second bike. In this way the bicycles are mounted diagonally and will no longer interfere with each other.

I have a new bicycle with a Shimano T500 system. On which Twinny Load will this bicycle fit?
Bicycles with Shimano T500 gears can only be fitted on a Twinny Load® that is equipped with a frame clamp. These include the models Twinny Load Traditional FES and Twinny Load FFK.

Do you also have a Twinny Load on which a tricycle or a reclining bicycle can be fitted?

What are the advantages of crank mounting compared to frame mounting of the bicycle?
Twinny Load advises the use of its completely renewed and patented crank mounting. Modern bicycles have become more expensive on average and the materials used are becoming increasingly more sophisticated. Bicycle manufacturers are developing other frame shapes and tend to fix cables and accessories on the frame. This is making fixing frame clamps to bicycles increasingly difficult. But with the Twinny Load crank fixing 99.9% of all bicycles made can be transported. The bicycle is stable - the carrier with crank fixing holds bicycles stable and is lightweight and compact. And bicycles can be mounted quickly and simply on the carrier.

Caravan and bicycle carrier

Can the universal caravan attachments 'High' and 'Low' also be used on my caravan?
We supply universal caravan accessories for use on the caravan A-frame. These accessories are suitable for both Twinny Load® Traditional models and for Twinny Load® Swing and Ergo models. There are two variants: the high and the low models. The high model is for when you have an integrated A-frame container on your caravan.
The Twinny Load® with bicycles is mounted above this.
If the distance from the front of the caravan to the connection to the tow ball is more than half the width of the car + 50 cm, then you need a low model.
If the distance from the front of the caravan to the connection to the tow ball is less than half the width of the car + 50 cm, then you need a high model.

Is there a bracket for storing the Twinny Load models on a wall?
We have a universal wall bracket for Twinny Load Ergo, Swing, 4 bikes and Swing XL – C models.

We supply a traditional bracket and guide bushes in various lengths that are suitable for every Twinny Load with a traditional towing hook mounting. These accessories are available separately. Click on ‘sales points’ for an overview of our sales points.

Can I also use the variable guide bush for a removable towing hook?
If there is sufficient room to fit the guide set bracket on the horizontal part of the towing bar you can also use the variable guide bush on a removable towing hook. If this not the case you will need a special accessory, the Brinkmatic Adapter.
You will also require this accessory if you have a removable towing hook that is unlocked using a locking handle.

Does Twinny Load supply parts directly to the consumer?
All Twinny Load® accessories and parts are obtainable separately from our sales points. Click on 'sales points' for an overview of our sales points.

Can I order the lamp covers separately?
This is only possible for the Twinny Load models that are fitted with a plastic extendable light bar. See accessories and parts on our website.

The Twinny Load Traditional pins do not fit in the new guide bushes. Which type do I need now?
When the guide set brackets are fitted on the towing hook these must be fitted so that the lip guide on which the guide bush is mounted is pointing towards the car. When the guide bushes are refitted these are higher and closer to the towing hook ball. If this is not possible then a variable guide bush can be used, which is adjustable on the vertical part of the towing hook.
Variable guide bush: 62.99.02150

I have lost the flat clamp. Is it possible to get a new one?

Other questions

Is there a Twinny Load sales point near us?

Will the Ergo and Swing fixings also fit my current Twinny Load?
The fixings for the Twinny Load® Ergo and Twinny Load® Swing models cannot be mounted on a standard Twinny Load® Traditional model.

I have recently purchased a Twinny Load Traditional, but where do I fit the padlock that was supplied?
The lock is fitted as follows: Place the opened part of the lock via the back of the towing hook ball through one of the two holes in the rectangular profile. This rectangular profile is the part that is fitted over the towing hook ball. You click the lock shut before you tighten the T-bolt on the ball to secure the Twinny Load. Now there is insufficient clearance for the removal of the Twinny Load from the towing hook.

Where must I go to get a guarantee and service assessment?
If you believe you are eligible for a guarantee and service assessment you should return to your supplier with your Twinny Load® and its purchase receipt. They will then contact us to handle the issue. (NB.: Please do not contact us directly.)
